Awe Inspiring: Kevin Murphy Super.Natural

The setting was the Wynn in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. Kevin Murphy’s Super.Natural was an amazing and inspirational experience. There were so many stylists from all over, Modern Salon was even there to cover the show.  This event was not to be missed and as soon as I got there I knew exactly why. It was thoughtfully laid out from registration to show time. All of the stylists were well taken care of.

Some of the highlights of the show were Kevin Murphy himself along with KM Master.Stylist Massimo Morello and guest artist Tony Ricci who recently received Canadian Hairstylist of the year. The model’s wardrobe was very beautifully styled by Emily Ward. Head to toe the models wowed the crowds. The KM team really rolled out the red carpet for the stylists who attended this event.  A poolside reception followed the first night.  People mingled, enjoyed a cocktail and some good food. There were 4 cabanas around the pool that offered styling to all of the attendants. A cardboard cutout of Kevin was stationed in the front area of the reception for people to snap a picture and have it sent directly to their phones.

Both days featured a wide range of styling to marketing and everything in between. Tim McClean and Jay Fata demonstrated how it’s done on the cutting side with Mossugo Shears in action. Kate Reid and Marsha Moran shared some of their formulas for creating some of the most sought after colors of the season while Ali Batista explained how each model was set and finished.

The second day was more one on one with smaller groups in the break out sessions. Each individual got to choose the classes they wanted to attend. In addition there was a wonderful Shoot.Me with Kevinassisted by the talented Sarah Lund and editorial photographer Luis Murphy. The Shoot.Me was very informational for those who are trying to do more editorial work and it demonstrated what the process looks like up close and personal. 

If you did not make it to this show I would highly recommend any future events that Kevin Murphy puts on. It was a wonderful educational event with a lot of a-ha moments. Ask your local distributor about educational events in your area. It is so inspiring to get out and learn!
