The Space Between

What can we do with our free time? I am talking about the 30-45 minute processing time for your colors or your 30 minute break where you might not always know exactly what to do. What are you doing to fill your space between? For some of us we are just trying to fill the blank spots in our schedule. If this is you, I have a solution for you!

First and foremost I want to revisit the barbering culture buzz I wrote about last year. It is still buzzing and it has not slowed down. Did you know that men are searching cuts and colors more often than women on search engines? The need for men's grooming products has steadily increased over the last few years.  In the last 8 months my men's retail went up almost 80% from before. Are we seeing a trend? Absolutely and when we see a trend we need to ride that wave.

Maintenance trims are a great way to appeal to a male clientele. Trims add longevity to cuts and offering that service will keep them coming back. My amazingly talented friend Marissa Lauren, owner of Salon Vie Rebelle in Illinois, recently posted a video of a maintenance trim. The little things like putting a towel between their collar and the cape so you don't break the starch in their collar during the work day or customizing their neckline to compliment their cut. It was super simple but how she explained it really made sense.  Offering a neck clean up is an extra perk that clients will find very valuable.

Beard Trims are also a wonderful service to offer. You can shape beards to compliment the shape of your client's face. Beards should be treated the same as the hair on your head. Shampooing and conditioning is suggested but not a lot of people are aware of that. Having beard knowledge is another way to set you apart. There is more of a beard culture that goes hand in hand with the barbering culture, they even have no shave November as a way of supporting cancer awareness. What an excellent way to advertise during that month to keep their beards maintained.

What a wonderful way to build your business and fill your free time than by marketing to men! Men's grooming is totally a thing so make it a part of what you have to offer.

Please comment and like! Let me know if there is anything you are really want to hear and I would be happy to post about it! <3
